Music is an effective tool for stress management.

Therapeutic Effects of Music

Music in general puts you in a better mood and helps reduce anxiety. Certain tunes in particular are known to reduce blood pressure and stress more than others. For example,“Weightless” by Marconi Union has been proved to slow a listener’s heart rate, and lower levels of cortisol as studied by neuroscientists in the UK.

Actively singing is a great mood enhancer and produces dopamine that makes us feel euphoria. Listening to music also acts like a natural pain killer by boosting your positive emotions, giving us relief from whatever it is that is bothering us, physical or emotional.

Just like lullabies help babies fall asleep, adults sleep better after listening to calm music. This helps improve their sleep quality and provide the body needed rest. The effect is cumulative and the more often a person listens to music, the better sleep they get over time. As the brain interprets the sounds from music, it triggers physical effects in the body that promote sleep.
